District COVID Updates

Sherburne and Mille Lacs counties are experiencing some of the highest rates of COVID-19 transmission in Minnesota. Sherburne County Government Center has community vaccine clinics open this December for COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.

Over the last two weeks we have seen a significant increase in the number of COVID cases reported among students and staff—especially at Princeton High School. We are asking for everyone’s cooperation in STAYING HOME if you have any symptoms or have potentially been exposed to a positive COVID case.

As you are aware, the CDC has recommended the COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11. Our schools are not requiring or providing vaccines. We encourage all families to contact your healthcare provider or our local public health department if you are interested in getting the COVID Vaccine.

As we prepare to return, we understand there are strong feelings about masking or not masking. At Princeton Public Schools we support the CDC recommendations and strongly encourage anyone who is not fully vaccinated to wear a face covering. Per federal mandate, masks are required on all public transportation, including school buses.

In-person education and learning is critical to a child’s well-being and academic success. Testing in K-12 schools remains a powerful tool for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

As we have shared throughout our back to school communications, all families and staff are expected to complete a daily self-check for COVID-19. If symptoms appear, stay home and report the illness to the school nurse.

The safety of our staff, volunteers, children, families and our communities is our top priority and therefore we want to communicate what our plan is to mitigate this pandemic. Our goal is to reduce the potential for transmission of COVID-19, and that requires full cooperation among all of us. Please review our Safe Return to In-Person Learning Plan on our Health & Safety page.

Princeton Public Schools will use the following building-level tiers to determine when face coverings will be added to our mitigation strategies due to COVID-19 case rates. See full mitigation plan here.
