Pam McElhone- US Distilled Products - Phillips Distillery
As an active member of our Learning and Living committee Pam has taken a proactive role in collaborating between the school district and our business community.
Pam was an integral part of planning our 2017-2018 career crawl for teachers, an event that was an unprecedented success and got teachers into our local businesses!
This event centered around discovering (from business perspective) what social and emotional skills are essential in the workforce, and resulted in staff identifying the “Princeton 5” top skills Princeton employers value:
Communication & Collaboration
These skills are now held top-of-mind for our high school teachers, and has spurred common understanding of their importance, direct lessons and deep conversations between students and staff.
The Career Crawl was also a landmark event for staff development as it opened teacher hearts and minds to the wealth of opportunities for our Princeton graduates that exist right here in the Princeton community. We have so much to be proud of in Princeton, and the Career Crawl was a pivotal event where 250 Princeton teachers were able to get a behind-the-scenes look at 14 of our area businesses in order to deeply understand opportunities in our community.
Pam believes in the importance of connection between school and community, and tirelessly “answers the call” when needed. Most recently in providing input during one of our five recent community visioning sessions in which business and community members provide input and insight about what our students need to know, be able to do, and be like upon graduation.
We appreciate Pam and her contributions that continually help to strengthen our system. For this we honor Pam as one of our 2018-2019 Distinguished Service Award recipients. Thank you Pam!
