Inclement Weather Procedures & Emergency Response Test

Is the theme song for ‘Jaws’ playing in your head? Yes, snow is coming! Ready or not, it’s time to talk about our inclement weather procedures.

In any weather emergency, the main objective is to provide a safe environment for students and staff. Once a decision has been reached, the district will contact local news services, radio stations, post to our website and social media channels, and the district will send out a Skylert message to families.

Like prior years, our district will utilize flexible e-learning days when necessary during inclement weather. A flexible e-learning day allows for school to be in session without students and staff being physically present at the school. In the event of a flexible e-learning day during school closure, your teachers will be in contact with you for further instructions.

We will be testing our emergency alert system (Skylert) on Thursday, November 10th at 4:00 p.m. Families should expect to receive a test notification from the district in the form of a phone call, email and text message (if opted in). If you don't receive our test notification in your preferred method you should review/update your contact information in Skyward Family Access.  Visit isd477.org/skyward and navigate to the Skylert tab to view your notification settings.

Visit our winter weather webpage for full details about our closure and delay procedures.
