20-21 Playbook

Princeton Public Schools will be open this fall to continue working toward our mission to be an innovative leader in instruction, developing in EVERY learner the ability to succeed in an ever-changing world. Over the last several months, our administrators and staff have been hard at work preparing our reopening plan. We used parent survey responses to inform our plans, and reviewed recent executive orders and back to school guiding documents to make sure our plans align with health and safety expectations. In addition, we have developed and continue to refine our plan, while staying in close contact with local, state, and federal health officials to make sure all plans adhere to all required guidelines and protocols.

Our 20-21 Fall Planning Task Force is hard at work creating plans to start school following the July 30 guidelines provided by the Governor and the Department of Education where:

• Students Pre-K through grade 5 will have in-class learning every day
• Students in grades 6-12 will have hybrid learning (half on-site, half at home)

These learning methods follow the recent executive orders and Safe Learning Plan guidelines.  The guidelines direct us to monitor the 14-day county level case rate per 10,000 residents. Princeton Public Schools lies within Sherburne, Mille Lacs, Isanti and Benton counties. We will continue to monitor this 14-day county level case and we are prepared to shift our learning methods as required by the executive orders.

Ensure Health & Safety

We are dedicated to providing a healthy and safe learning environment for all students, staff and community.  We will communicate the importance of self-screening, hand-washing, hygiene practices, cleaning protocols, and other measures to mitigate and respond to the effects of COVID-19. We will follow all guidance from federal, state and local health authorities.

Provide High Quality Instruction

We are dedicated to providing a high-quality education for all of our students, regardless of the instructional model.  We have formed a committee of staff members from all levels of our organization, with subcommittees focusing on planning in the areas of Health & Safety, Student Learning, Climate & Culture, Operations, and Communications. We will follow all guidance and regulations outlined by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Offer Educational Opportunities for All

We are dedicated to ensuring our students have equitable access to a high-quality education and have systems in place to support our students. We are planning for three potential scenarios based on guidance from the Minnesota Department of Education: In-person learning for all students; hybrid learning with physical distancing and capacity limits; distance learning only.  Families will have the opportunity to choose their learning path once the learning scenarios are approved.

We are dedicated to providing academic, social and emotional support to students, families and staff.   We will allow students, families and staff to provide input on the implementation of our learning plan.
