We enjoyed hosting many guests today for our Grandparent/ Special Person Lunch event!  We nearly doubled the number of people in our school today.  I hope our guests enjoyed their time with us today.

The End of the Year Celebration is coming up on May 19th.  The calendar has a carnival and field day on two separate dates, but we are having one big event on Friday, May 19th.  We have received $2,500 from the PTO and $500 from Twice New Clothing to put on this event!  It should be a great day!!

Our Positive Days Challenge continues as we move into May.  We were over 600 days when this edition of the Update was written.  We are encouraging students to show their Tiger Pride and earn days for the school as we make our way through our last month of school.  Here are the items students are working toward:

700 – Field Day/ Carnival - Another Inflatable

900 – Mystery Prize - Students will be able to sit anywhere at lunch

1,000 – Mr. Beach Sleeps on the roof for a night

Take care,

John Beach

As a principal, I have the opportunity to work through conflicts between students on a daily basis.  Students at this age are learning how to deal with emotions and situations involving conflicts with others.  One of the biggest challenges for our students is responding positively when someone is not kind to you.  Many times a student will say something mean back or become physical with the other student.  We continue to encourage students to tell the other person to stop and report it if the behavior continues.  That way I can work with the other student for their poor choice rather than needing to speak with two students who made less than positive choices.

We are looking for volunteers for our Book Fair, which is April 30, May 1, May 2, May 3.  Use this form to sign up for a time to help - Intermediate Book Fair- volunteer sign-up.

Is it bullying?  We field many reports of situations that have been called bullying.  In most cases they don’t fit the definition of bullying.  While we still want to be aware of these situations and deal with them, we also want to give a clear definition of what bullying is.
