The room was quiet, the tension was mounting, not even a buzz of the bee was heard. The annual Spelling Bee was in progress. Twenty-six middle school students displayed their spelling abilities in the district-level spelldown on Wednesday, January 17th. Eighth grader Maguire Olson was the champion of the bee! His winning word was “clandestine,” a word of Latin origin that means “kept secret or done secretively, especially because illicit.”
Way to go Maguire! He will go on to represent Princeton Public Schools at the Regional Spelling Bee on February 5, 2018.
