Digital learning and instruction is a long-term focus in Princeton Public Schools to help all students develop the skills necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world. With a focus on student learning, equity and access for all, the digital learning plan has allowed us to provide mobile devices for all students.

The Instructional Technology Team is committed to work with students, staff and families to support the infrastructure, access and security needed to promote safe and meaningful learning. Low-cost plans

Broadband is an essential tool for all families, especially those with children in school, and some providers have created low-cost plans that make it easier for most families to subscribe. Below is a table that summarizes some of these plans. If your existing or prospective provider is not listed, please go to their website or contact them to see if they have a low-cost plan. (must meet eligibility requirements)

Hotspots and District WiFi

Each district building has Wifi that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Wifi in every building extends into our parking lot, please see the maps below for parking locations where you can access the Princeton Public Wifi.

We have a very limited amount of hotspots to check out to families who have no or limited internet service. Hotspots work by using data from cell phone towers, so they are not a solution for all households in the Princeton School district. At this time, hotspots are being prioritized to the families with no internet service. The form to request a hotspot is located below. If the district is not able to check out a hotspot to your family, you will be placed on a waiting list.

Please note that hotspots can be purchased at any mobile device retailer or big box electronics store. A hotspot will provide you with internet service if you live in an area that can get reasonable access to cellular service. If you have a cellular phone, it also has hotspot capabilities, contact your cell phone provider to find out how much data you have available to use as a hotspot and how to connect to your hotspot.

Princeton Public Library
Students may schedule a "browsing appointment" and use the Library wifi for up to one hour on their school device. Students under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. The library's Wifi is kept on 24/7 and does extend out of the building. You can access the Wifi by sitting in the parking lot.

Browsing Appointments will be available:
Monday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Securely Internet Filtering

Securly Internet Filter

Our district uses Securly content filtering to block access to inappropriate websites and material on school-owned devices. In addition to blocking inappropriate content, Securly alerts the district when they detect activity such as searches, sites visited, or emails sent/received that indicate a student may be considering self-harm, harming others, or are involved in cyber-bullying. District administrators and counselors monitor alerts during school hours, on school days. This service was implemented so that school administrators are able to partner with you to provide a safer online experience for your child.

Securly Home App

The Securly Home App allows parents to partner with the district in helping to guide student choices on the internet on their school issued devices while at home. Parents can filter student internet use, access to websites and receive alerts to flagged activity on school devices during non-school hours. Parents can also receive weekly or daily updates on student device usage.

Schoology

Schoology = Classroom + Home

Schoology is used in 6th-12th grade, including the ALC. Schoology is learning management system that improves learning through better communication, collaboration, and increased access to curriculum resources. Teachers use Schoology as their primary resource for delivering student coursework, feedback, grades, resources and announcements

Student grade details will be shown in Schoology. Only overall grades for each course will be available in Skyward along with student grade reports at the end of each grading period.

Families are able to connect to Schoology through the parent portal to access shared student work, grades, school and classroom announcements.

Seesaw = Classroom + Home

Seesaw is used in PreK-5th grade for teachers to post student classwork, activities and family announcements. Families can access student work, school and classroom announcements that have been shared through the Family App. The app is available on all mobile devices and the web.

Skyward & Skylert

Skyward = school + home, classroom + home

Skyward Family Access provides access to each student's academic profile. Within Skyward, families can register student for the school year, access attendance records, add funds to food service accounts, view grades and report cards.

Skylert is our mass communication system for emergencies, food service account updates, weather related delays/cancellations and any other important district messaging. You can adjust your Skylert settings in Skyward.
