From the Principal's Desk: School Day begins at 7:45, Winter Conferences & Tiger Pride!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are the Tigers and we are proud!  Tiger Pride is something that is very important to us at the Primary School.  Within Tiger Pride, we are infusing opportunities to teach students about social-emotional learning (SEL). Part of this includes giving students some “tools in the toolbox” to assist with self-regulation.  Students are learning about the Zones of Regulation, this includes using colors, words, and our emotions to express how we are feeling.   In the morning and throughout the day, the students can self-identify which zone they are feeling while they learn strategies to cope and manage their different feelings.

A friendly reminder that our student day is between 7:45-2:00.  Our student drop off time is between 7:25-7:45.  It is very important that students are here by 7:45 because teaching begins right away.  If dropping off past 7:45, there is no outside supervision, parents/guardians will need to check their child(ren) into the office.  Drop off and pick up is designed to work similar to airport parking, using the middle lane to pass up to open spots.  We have a white line painted on the sidewalk, please use the whole length of the white line to drop off/pick up your students.  We notice there are often open spaces in the very front of the building.  By using the whole length of the white line this helps make this time go as quickly as possible for families.

In the morning, parking your car to walk your child across the crosswalk is an option.  If you choose this option, please walk with your child across the crosswalk.  To help keep the curbside drop off line moving efficiently, we may wait for a larger group of families to gather before stopping traffic.  We try to look for natural breaks in traffic before stopping traffic to use the crosswalk.  We thank you for your continued cooperation in making these times run smoothly.

On February 21, we will not have students for our winter conferences.  Your child’s classroom teacher will reach out with more information to sign up.  During this time, you will be able to access your child’s report card electronically through Skyward.  Click here:  Report Card Instructions for Primary Families  for step by step instructions on how to access the report card; it will be available on February 21.

As we look to the new year, we want to share a little about how we work hard to support all students and how this relates to student placement into classrooms.  A tremendous amount of work and effort is given each year when we place students in classrooms.  We are dedicated to having common experiences for all students while balancing the educational needs of all students.  And, providing families an opportunity to share valuable information about their child’s success in the classroom is important to us.  There will be an optional form for families in the March newsletter if families would like to share helpful information about their child(ren) in consideration of student placement.

We are here for you and your family, don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or your child’s teacher with any questions.  We are Tiger Strong.

Sincerely,

Sarah A. Marxhausen
