Attendance:

• 2019-20 POA Student Expectations
• Students can work on assignments 24/7. In the case of illness or extended absence, please contact Sarah in guidance at 763-389-6063.
• Online attendance is tracked by work completion from week to week. Please refer to Princeton Online Academy Handbook for information regarding attendance and truancy.
• Odysseyware creates a daily calendar encouraging you to complete course assignments in a timely manner according to the syllabus. Following due dates will help to keep you on track for weekly progress. In Odysseyware, the due date will turn red if it has not been met.
• Work completion reports are run on Mondays. All work due that week must be completed by Midnight on Sunday.
• We typically do not monitor Odysseyware during non-school hours.
• Course access ends at 3:00 pm on the last day of each trimester.

Academic Honesty:

Students accessing educational programs through Princeton Student Services are expected know the definition of plagiarism and academic dishonesty. Students are expected to achieve success with integrity. Academic dishonesty is a serious violation of academic standards and is not acceptable. Please refer to the Princeton Online Academy Handbook.

TIPS & TRICKS

• Posters: You can create a poster with Google Drawing or a make a pamphlet.
• Models: Check with teachers before you start.
• Make a chart: Use Google sheets to make charts or draw them and upload picture
• Speech or Video: Type up your script or speech and turn it in.
• Odysseyware cannot open Google Docs or Google Sheets. Please submit assignments in an alternative format:
  
  • Paste the text from their document into the assignment text box
  • Paste the Shared URL from document into the assignment text box, or
  • Upload as a PDF
• If an Odysseyware page does not finish loading on the screen, try zooming in and out on the page may help it load.
  • Ways to zoom in and out:
    • Control key, and "+" or "-".
    • Click on the 3 bars at the top right of the browser, and click on the plus or minus sign.

WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Grammar, spelling and punctuation are factored into your grades.
2. We suggest you use Grammarly an Extension from Google: https://www.grammarly.com/
3. Citing sources means to list all of the information for the source. Example: Title, author, date of publication, etc.

4. You can disregard word count on essay questions. The quality of your answers are more important than the length.

PROJECTS:

1. Projects are visible at the start of each unit. Not every unit includes a project.
2. Review them and if you have questions, ask before you start them.

GEOGRAPHY:

While taking map tests, many of the questions are drag and drop. If you think Odysseyware marked a question incorrect, please contact your teacher.

SCIENCE:

1. If you don’t have the supplies you can substitute materials that will give you similar results. Example: you could use golf balls instead of marbles, cereal instead of peanuts, etc. You are not expected to have fancy scales, weights, chemicals, etc.
   Example: If it asks for a beaker, you could use a clear jar or clear measuring cup.
2. If you can’t substitute then make your hypothesis and look for a video on Youtube or Khan Academy. Use the Internet to research the experiment online to find the answers. Use this “Online Resource List” link to find other sources. The purpose is for you to understand the concept of the experiment and the results/outcome.

MATH:

1. Look for math websites that will provide extra examples, definitions or explanations. You can also watch Youtube or Khan Academy videos. Use this “Online Resource List” link to find other sources.
2. Geometry Worksheets (PDFs): Just click on the assignment icon and upload the worksheet to your Google Drive.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. For technical issues, contact Odysseyware at 1-877-251-6662
2. If you having technical/computer problems you can try clearing your browsing data.
3. Can’t type in text box? Use the “Ask for Help” button to type in answer or paste your shared URL.

Each course is made up of Lessons, Projects, Quizzes, and Tests.

• Lessons: 30% of final grade
• Projects: 30% of final grade
• Quizzes: 20% of final grade
• Tests: 20% of final grade

Teachers correct assignments Monday-Friday but it may take several days before your grade is reflected in Odysseyware. Scores will typically show as a zero until they have been graded, so please wait a few days before contacting teachers.

All end-of-term grades are posted in Skyward Student Access. Please contact Student Services if you do not know your login.

Princeton Public Schools has adopted a grade-level advisory program to provide students with information in the areas of career awareness and post-secondary education. We are using the Ramp-Up to Readiness curriculum, developed by the University of Minnesota, which focuses on social emotional readiness, academic activities, admissions readiness, career readiness, and financial readiness. Full-time online students will access advisory lessons in Google Classroom and completion scores will be factored into their English grade each trimester. Part-time online students will complete advisory at PHS. Participation and completion of advisory is a graduation requirement and will be documented each trimester.
